What is IAW?
Three hundred and forty thousand Australians declared their religion to be Islam in the latest census. Ironically, now, more than ever, there is a desperate need for awareness and understanding of the true teachings of Islam. The popular Western image of Islam and Muslims presents them as extremely unreasonable and intolerant, violators of human rights and savagely anti-women. These images are inadvertently leading our society down a path of prejudice, ignorance and negative feelings about Islam and Muslims, breeding suspicion, discrimination, racism and even violence against Muslims. It is imperative that these misunderstandings are eradicated NOW in order to create a true multicultural Australia.
